Connect Stripe
Connect your own Stripe account to take cards online — the money lands straight with you.
Online payments in Mountify run through your own Stripe account. You connect it once per board, and from that moment you can require a deposit or full prepayment at booking — with the money going straight to you, not to us. This article walks the connection step by step: where the screen is, which buttons to press, what appears on success, what can break, and how to fix it.
Important: Mountify is not a payment institution and never holds your money. The salon is the recipient of the payment. We store only your Stripe account id (
acct_…) — no key, no password, no card data.
What connecting unlocks (and what it doesn’t)
| Unlocks | Does NOT unlock |
|---|---|
| The Require online payment switch in the editor of every priced service | Taking a card at the till (you record that manually, no Stripe needed) |
| A deposit (percentage or fixed amount) at booking | Sending a payment link for an existing booking — there is no such feature |
| Full prepayment by card at booking | Starting an online payment from the CRM on the client’s behalf |
| The Pay by card option on your public page for services that are otherwise paid on site | Your own Mountify subscription (that lives in “Subscription & billing”) |
Connecting is optional. A salon that only takes cash and terminal payments works perfectly well without Stripe — it just records the money manually under Money → Payments.
1. Before you start
Have three things ready so you don’t stall halfway through Stripe’s form:
- Business details — exact legal name, company/VAT number, address, contact person. Stripe runs the business verification (KYC) itself and there is no way to skip it.
- A bank account (IBAN) for Stripe to pay out to.
- An ID document for the owner/representative — Stripe usually asks for one during verification.
You also need the Install integrations (install_integration) permission in the workspace. By default only the Owner and Admin roles have it. Without it the connect button stays disabled and this line appears underneath:
The “install_integration” permission is required to manage integrations.
2. Open the online-payments page
The full path from the left rail:
Setup → Integrations → Online payments (Stripe)
- In the board’s left rail, click Setup.
- Choose Integrations. A grid of cards opens — one per channel, each with a state dot reading Connected or Not connected.
- Click the Online payments (Stripe) card.

Note: the old “Board settings → Stripe tab” no longer exists. An old bookmark with
?tab=striperedirects to the new page automatically, so nothing is lost.
3. Connect the account
On the Stripe payments page you’ll see the description “Accept deposits and full payments from clients for your bookings.”, and on the right a panel with the two facts that matter:
- We’ll redirect you to Stripe to create or connect your account. You’ll come back here automatically.
- Business verification (KYC) is handled by Stripe. Payouts go directly to your account.
-
Press Connect Stripe.
-
Your browser is taken to Stripe’s own page. This is Stripe’s site, not Mountify’s — you fill it in there.
-
Enter your business details, bank account, and upload whatever documents Stripe asks for.
-
When Stripe is done it sends you back to Mountify. You’ll briefly see:
Completing the Stripe connection…
- If the account is ready to take cards, a Stripe connected successfully toast appears and you land back on the board’s page.
Don’t close the browser tab in the middle of Stripe’s form. The context (which board you’re connecting) is kept in that specific tab’s memory. If you close it and come back another way, you’ll see “Stripe connection wasn’t completed” and “Try again from the board settings.” That does not mean the account wasn’t created — it only means we couldn’t tell where to send you back. Reopen Setup → Integrations → Online payments (Stripe) and press Continue Stripe setup.
4. What you see after a successful connection
The page changes shape. A green Active badge sits top right, and under the heading: This connection applies to this board only — connect each board separately.
Three fields describe the connection:
| Field | What it shows | Can you change it here |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe account | Your Stripe account id (acct_…) | No — reference only |
| Country | The country the account was created with | No. It is permanent — see below |
| Currency | The Stripe account’s default currency | No — managed in Stripe |
Beneath them: Your account is ready to accept payments.
On the right is the Manage in Stripe panel: “Account management, viewing payments, and additional settings (for example the checkout page settings) live in your personal Stripe account.” — with an Open Stripe Dashboard button that opens Stripe in a new tab.
5. The country is chosen once and is permanent
The Stripe account’s country is fixed the moment the account is created and cannot be changed later — that is Stripe’s rule, not our limitation. If you picked the wrong country, the only way out is a new Stripe account, not a correction.
So: before pressing Connect Stripe, make sure the country your business is registered in is the right one.
6. One connection per board
One Stripe account attaches to one board (one salon/studio/clinic). If you run three sites as three separate boards, you connect three times — once from Setup → Integrations → Online payments (Stripe) on each board.
You may reuse the same Stripe business account across several boards, as long as you complete the connection separately for each.
A single board cannot be connected from two different workspaces. If someone else has already connected this board, the connection is refused — that’s a guard against two competing accounts for the same salon.
7. Commission, fees and card data
- Mountify takes no commission on your payments. A platform fee exists in the system, but it is fixed at zero.
- Stripe does charge its own processing fee. Stripe deducts it, it’s visible in the Stripe Dashboard, and it is the reason the transfer to your bank is smaller than the amount the client paid. See Payouts & getting paid.
- Card details are entered only on Stripe’s page. Neither Mountify nor the salon ever sees or stores them — which is why there is no field anywhere in Mountify for an API key, a secret key or a card number. If someone asks you for one “to set up payments”, that is not Mountify.
8. If Stripe wants more steps
Sometimes the account isn’t ready when you return. The badge then reads Setup incomplete and a warning appears:
Stripe needs a few more steps before you can accept payments. Continue the setup.
If Stripe has listed specific requirements, they show in a yellow box under Stripe needs the following to resume payments:. The button is no longer “Connect Stripe” but Continue Stripe setup — press it and finish the missing items there.
Every possible post-connection state is covered in Connection status, pausing and disconnecting.
9. The next step: turn on a deposit
The connection itself charges nobody. It only opens the door. To actually start collecting money online you turn on prepayment on a specific service:
Catalog → Offerings → [the service] → Pricing → Deposit & prepayment
While the board has no active connection, the Require online payment switch is greyed out with the note “Connect a payment provider for this board to require a deposit.”
Careful — dead end: the Open payment settings button next to that note lands on the board’s general profile rather than the connect page while nothing is connected at all. Don’t be thrown by it — take the long way: Setup → Integrations → Online payments (Stripe).
The full configuration is in Deposits & prepayment.
Common questions
Do I need Stripe to use Mountify? No. Stripe is needed only for online payments (a deposit or prepayment by card at booking). Bookings, the schedule, clients, packages and the till all work without it.
Can I use a provider other than Stripe? Stripe is the live provider today. If another card under Integrations says “Coming soon”, it isn’t released yet.
Do I need a separate account per salon? A separate connection — yes, one per board. A separate Stripe account — not necessarily.
Where do I see the payments themselves? Inside Mountify: Money → Payments. In Stripe: via Open Stripe Dashboard. The two look at the same money from different angles — Mountify also shows cash, Stripe shows only online card payments.
Does the money sit with Mountify for a while? No. The payment is created directly on your Stripe account. We are never the holder of the funds.
Can I delete my Stripe account from Mountify? No. Disconnect only stops Mountify from using it. The account stays yours and stays live in Stripe.
If something goes wrong
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Connect Stripe is greyed out, with “The “install_integration” permission is required…” | Your role lacks the integrations permission | Ask an Owner or Admin to connect, or to grant you Install integrations |
| ”You don’t have access to integrations in this workspace.” | Your role also lacks the use-integrations permission | Same — ask an Owner/Admin for the permission |
| ”Stripe connection wasn’t completed” + “Try again from the board settings.” | You returned by a different route or tab and the context was lost | Reopen Setup → Integrations → Online payments (Stripe) and press Continue Stripe setup |
| Badge Setup incomplete | Stripe is still waiting on data or documents | Press Continue Stripe setup and finish the listed requirements |
| Badge Restricted | Stripe has restricted the account until verification is done | See Connection status |
| ”Coming soon” instead of a connect page | That provider isn’t released on the platform yet | Use Stripe |
| Connected, but the deposit still won’t turn on | The status isn’t Active, or the service page is holding a stale answer | Reload the service page; if the badge isn’t Active, finish the setup in Stripe |
