Payouts & getting paid

Online payments through Stripe are paid out to your bank — when and how it happens.

7 min read Updated 2026-07-26

Money paid online reaches your bank account on its own, on Stripe’s schedule. Mountify is not a way-station — the payment is created directly on your Stripe account and Stripe transfers it to your bank from there. This article explains the whole path, why the transfer is smaller than what the client paid, and how to reconcile Mountify against Stripe without losing your mind.

The distinction that confuses almost everyone: Card in Mountify means “the client paid by card at my terminal” — that money does not go through Stripe. Online means “the client paid by card on the payment page” — only that money is paid out by Stripe. The two words look alike; the money is not the same.

1. Who receives the money

The salon. Not Mountify.

QuestionAnswer
Who is the recipient of the paymentYour business, through your Stripe account
Does Mountify hold the money for a momentNo. Never
Does Mountify take a commissionNo. The platform fee is fixed at zero
Who runs the business verification (KYC)Stripe
Who sets the payout scheduleStripe (and you, in the Stripe Dashboard)
Where is the bank accountIn your Stripe account — Mountify neither sees nor stores it
What does Mountify storeOnly the account id (acct_…)

The payment screen says as much to the client: “The money goes to [your salon] — the salon is the recipient. Mountify is the booking platform and isn’t a party to the payment.”

2. The path of one online payment

  1. The client reaches the last booking step and sees the amount due now.
  2. They’re sent to Stripe’s secure page and enter their card there.
  3. Stripe takes the amount and records it on your account.
  4. Mountify gets a signal and writes a payment onto the booking — you see it in Money → Payments with method Online.
  5. Stripe deducts its processing fee.
  6. On its own schedule Stripe bundles the day’s receipts into a payout and transfers it to your IBAN.

Steps 5 and 6 happen entirely inside Stripe. Mountify isn’t involved and can’t speed them up.

3. Why the transfer is smaller than what was paid

The single most common support question. The reason is almost always Stripe’s fee, not Mountify.

ReasonWho applies itWhere you see it
Payment processing feeStripeStripe Dashboard, on every payment
Refunds you issuedyouMoney → Payments, the Refunds column
Currency conversionStripe, if the payment currency differs from the account currencyStripe Dashboard
Funds held during verificationStripeStripe Dashboard
A Mountify commissionthere isn’t one

So the figure in Mountify (“money received”) and the amount landing in your bank will not match to the cent — and shouldn’t. Mountify shows what the client paid. The bank shows what was left after fees.

4. “Card” vs “Online” — the root of all the confusion

In Money → Payments there’s a Method filter with six buckets. Two of them sound alike:

MethodWhen it appearsPaid out by Stripe
CardYou pressed Paid card on the booking — the client paid at your terminalNo. That money goes through your POS provider, not Stripe
OnlineThe client paid on the payment pageYes. This is the only “Stripe money”
CashYou pressed Paid cashNo — the money is already in the till
PackageThe booking was covered by a prepaid packageNo (the money came in when the package was bought)
MixedSeveral methods on one bookingPartly — only the online share
UnspecifiedNo method chosen, or an unknown oneNo

Practical reconciliation rule: filter Method: Online for the period. That’s the only figure worth looking for in Stripe.

5. The payout schedule is managed in Stripe

Mountify has no field for a payout schedule, a bank account, holds, or a minimum amount. All of that lives in Stripe.

To get there:

  1. Setup → Integrations → Online payments (Stripe).
  2. On the right, in the Manage in Stripe panel, press Open Stripe Dashboard. It opens in a new tab.

The page says it outright: “Account management, viewing payments, and additional settings (for example the checkout page settings) live in your personal Stripe account.”

6. Country and currency

The page shows two reference fields:

  • Country — the country the Stripe account was created with. It cannot be changed. It also determines which country the payout bank account may be in.
  • Currency — the Stripe account’s default currency.

The payment is created in the booking’s (that is, the board’s) currency. If that differs from the account currency, the conversion and its terms are Stripe’s business — check them in the Stripe Dashboard before you rely on such a flow.

Mountify performs no currency conversion anywhere. In reports, amounts in different currencies are summed as they are, with a note reading “This period also holds amounts in …”. See Venue currency.

7. What stops payouts

SituationHow it looksWhat to do
Stripe wants more data/documentsBadge Setup incomplete + a requirements listContinue Stripe setup
Stripe has restricted the accountBadge Restricted + “Payments are paused…”Finish verification in Stripe
You disconnected from MountifyBadge DisabledReconnect if you want online payments again
Your Mountify subscription lapsedNew payments won’t start; the public page is unavailableReactivate the plan — What happens if the subscription stops

Important: these states stop new payments. Money already in your Stripe account stays yours and Stripe pays it out under its own rules — disconnecting in Mountify holds nothing back.

Details: Connection status, pausing and disconnecting.

8. Cash and card at the till — nothing to pay out

Money paid in cash or on your own terminal is already with you. In Mountify it’s recorded only so the till and the reports reconcile. No transfer, no schedule, no fee from us.

How to record it: Recording cash and card.

9. How to reconcile Mountify against Stripe

Do it for a fixed period, not by eye:

  1. Money → Payments, pick the period.
  2. Filter Method: Online.
  3. Note the figure.
  4. In the Stripe Dashboard open the same period and compare the receipts.
  5. The difference should be only Stripe’s fees (plus any conversion).

If the gap is bigger than fees, there are two likely causes:

  • A refund was issued directly in the Stripe Dashboard — it never reaches Mountify. Hence the rule: always refund from Mountify.
  • The period boundaries differ — Mountify counts calendar days in the board’s timezone, Stripe uses its own setting.

If you see at least in front of a figure in a report, the list was truncated because of too many rows — narrow the period before reconciling.

For your accountant there’s a dedicated export: Statement — a CSV.

Common questions

How many days until the money arrives? On Stripe’s schedule for your country and account. Check it in the Stripe Dashboard — Mountify neither sets it nor sees it.

Does Mountify take a percentage? No. Zero.

Can I change the bank account from Mountify? No. Only in Stripe.

I see a payment in Mountify but not in Stripe. Check the row’s method. If it’s Card, that’s a terminal payment at your salon — it will never be in Stripe.

I see a receipt in Stripe that isn’t in Mountify. Check whether it was a payment made outside Mountify (for example a link generated directly in Stripe). Those aren’t part of your till here.

Will Mountify stop my payouts if I don’t pay the subscription? No. We can’t hold funds in your Stripe account. What stops is the ability to create new payments.
