Money: where everything about money lives
The Money section: the till strip, the three money-received figures, which pages exist today, and where the old links go.
Everything about money in Mountify lives in one place — the Money section in the board’s left-hand menu. That is where you find the money received today, this week and this month, who owes you, what went out as expenses, the day and month reports, and the evening Finish the day ritual. This article is the map of the section: what each page holds, what each figure means, and why “money received” and “Revenue (closed)” are two different things.

Where Money lives
- Open your board (Boards → click the board).
- In the left icon rail find the Money row (wallet icon). It sits between Catalog and Setup.
- Click it. The Money page opens — we call it the till strip, because it is the strip of till figures for today.
If you see a number next to the Money row, that is the count of clients who owe you money. The same number appears on the Who owes me page — it is not a count of new payments and it does not clear itself; it clears when the debt is collected or forgiven.
Important: Money is a section of the board, not of the whole workspace. If you run two venues (two boards), each has its own till, its own expenses and its own reports. There is no screen that adds the two together.
The pages in the section
On a desktop a column on the left lists every page of the section, grouped by the question each answers. On a phone the column disappears and a ‹ Money crumb appears at the top instead.
| Group | Page | Answers |

The till strip: what’s on the page
Top to bottom:
- The «Money» heading, and a Money calendar button on the right.
- The «Finish the day» bar — the whole bar is a link (see below).
- Three money-received tiles — today, this week, this month.
- “In … − expenses … = … left” — a single line that appears only once at least one expense has been recorded for the month.
- The current month’s calendar — every day is a cell with the sum received on it.
- “Recent payments” — a table of the latest movements.
- On the right (desktop): “Who owes me” with names and phone numbers, and below it the Expenses door with the month’s total.
Every figure on this page is a link to the page that explains it — the today tile opens the Day report, the week tile opens Payments for the same window, the month tile opens the Month report.
The three figures: today, the week, the month
| Tile | Window | What’s printed under it |
|---|---|---|
| Received today | today’s calendar day | a comparison with the same weekday a week ago — e.g. ”↑ 12% vs Sunday a week ago”, plus small pills showing how the money came in (cash, card, online, package) |
| This week · from Monday | Monday to today | ”↑ 8% vs last week” |
| This month · since the 1st | the 1st to today | ”↓ 5% vs the same span of June” — it compares the same stretch: 26 days of July against the first 26 days of June, not against the whole of June |
Three clarifications that save a support ticket:
- The week starts on Monday and the month on the 1st. These are not “the last 7 days” and “the last 30 days”.
- If nothing came in a week (or a month) ago, there is simply no comparison line — you never see ”+∞%”.
- While the figures load, you see … in their place. If loading fails you see — and a bar appears above: “The money figures didn’t load.” with a Try again button. An empty till and a failed load never look the same.
What “money received” means
One figure governs the whole section: money received = recorded payments minus refunds, for the chosen window.
- Counted: payments in cash, by card, online (through the payment provider) and package sales that have been paid for.
- Subtracted: refunds.
- Not counted: visits marked On the house — they are reported separately and never count as money.
- Not counted: packages given away for free, and packages sold but not yet paid for.
- The window is calendar days in the board’s timezone — not your browser’s clock. If you are abroad, “today” still means “today at the salon”.
”Money received” ≠ “Revenue (closed)”
This is the single most common confusion in the whole product, so let’s be blunt:

| Figure | Where you see it | What it counts |
|---|---|---|
| Money received / Received today | the whole Money section, plus the Received today tile on the board home | money that actually arrived — recorded payments minus refunds |
| Revenue (closed) | only the KPI strip above the Schedule | the price of the completed bookings in the window, whether or not the client paid |
The two are almost never equal, and that is normal. A client who came and didn’t pay counts in Revenue (closed) but not in money received — and shows up in Who owes me. Conversely, a package sale brings in money received but is not a completed visit.
The “Finish the day” bar
The bar above the figures has three states:
| Look | What it says | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Neutral | Finish the day · “review the day →“ | the Finish the day page for today |
| Amber | Finish the day · “3 visits await an answer · money left uncollected” | the same — there is something to wrap up |
| Green | Finish the day · “Day finished ✓ 20:14 · see the day report →“ | the Day report for today |
The time is in the board’s timezone. Once the day is finished the door changes direction: the ritual is done, and what you want next is the report.
The calendar on the strip
The calendar shows the current month as a real calendar: each day is a cell with the amount received, the dot in the corner means the day is finished, and the bar underneath shows how strong that day was compared with the strongest day of the month. Clicking a day opens its Day report. The Open the calendar link at the top right takes you to the full Money calendar, from which you can zoom out to the year.
”Who owes me” on the right
The card on the right (on a phone, below the calendar) lists up to 8 people (3 on a phone) with:
- a name, or no client card if the person was served without a client record;
- an amber pill for 3 days / for 2 weeks / for 1 month — how old the oldest debt is;
- the dominant reason: 2 unpaid visits, 1 deposit shortfall or 1 unpaid no-show;
- a phone icon (Call) when there is a number;
- the amount.
If nobody owes you: “Nobody owes you money.” The detail and the collecting are in Who owes me.
”Recent payments”
The table at the bottom lists the latest movements of this week — up to 10 on a desktop, 5 on a phone. Columns: Time, Client, Service, Method, Amount.
Only real payments are shown. Refunds, on-the-house entries and voided rows are not here — for the full ledger click See all → and you land on Payments. If the week is empty: “No payments this week.”
When the figures may be imprecise
The section is built not to lie. There are three warnings you may meet:
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| ”This period also holds amounts in …” (with a coin icon) | the window holds a payment in another currency; nothing is converted — the amounts are added as they are, so the total is approximate | treat the figure as a ballpark, or read Payments row by row |
| ”at least” in front of an amount | the window holds too many entries and the scan stopped at its cap — the true figure is at least that much | pick a shorter window |
| ”Too many entries — the numbers may be incomplete.” | the same thing, as a bar on the report | pick a shorter window |
Common questions
Can I record a payment from the till strip? No. Money is recorded on the individual booking — see Recording a payment. The Money section collects and displays; it is not a data-entry surface.
Why can’t I see profit? You see “In − expenses = left”, which is the real difference between money that came in and expenses you recorded for the month. It is not accounting profit — there is no depreciation, no VAT and no payroll you haven’t entered as an expense.
Is there one screen for all my venues? No. Every board has its own Money section.
Where are the invoices and till receipts? There are none. Mountify does not issue a fiscal receipt and is not a cash register. For your accountant you export a Statement — a CSV of every movement.
Is my Mountify subscription paid here? No. Money is the salon’s till. The subscription is a separate bill and lives in the workspace settings — see Plans & billing.
