WhatsApp channel
Besides email, you can connect WhatsApp as a messaging channel from Settings → Channels.
WhatsApp exists in Mountify as a conversation inbox — a place to see what clients write to you and reply without leaving the admin panel. This article describes what is ready, what isn’t yet, and — most importantly — what WhatsApp does not do.
Two things up front, so you don’t get disappointed halfway:
1. WhatsApp does not send booking notifications. No confirmations, no reminders, no cancellations. Those go by email only, and only for bookings the client made online.
2. Connecting a number isn’t available yet. The Connect number button is disabled, with a Coming soon badge next to it. The feature unlocks after Meta approval.
1. Where the page is
The path is: sidebar → Setup → Integrations → WhatsApp.
- In the left icon rail open the boards product and pick your board.
- In the board column click the Setup hub.
- In the Salon operations group choose the Integrations row.
- A hub of channel cards opens. Click the WhatsApp card.
The hub is subtitled: “Connect channels and services to this salon — online payments, messaging and more.” The other cards in it are for payments — for example Online payments (Stripe). WhatsApp is the only messaging card.
The old “Settings → Channels” path no longer exists. If you see that instruction anywhere, it’s out of date.
2. What you can do today
| Action | State |
|---|---|
| Install the integration | Works |
| Fill in settings (business name, language, phone) | Works |
| Open the inbox | Works |
| Connect a real WhatsApp number | Coming soon |
| Send booking notifications over WhatsApp | Doesn’t exist |
If the platform hasn’t enabled WhatsApp for your workspace yet, you see a Coming soon card reading: “WhatsApp isn’t available on the platform yet. It activates after Meta approval (Phase C).“
3. Installing
If the integration is available to you, the page shows: “Install WhatsApp to accept bookings and message customers directly from Mountify.”
- Press Install WhatsApp.
- “WhatsApp installed” appears.
This needs the install_integration permission. Without it you see: “You need the ‘install_integration’ permission to manage integrations.”
After installing, the settings appear along with an Integration enabled switch, hinted “Pause temporarily without removing the connection.”
4. The settings
The Settings section carries the note “These settings apply to the whole workspace.”
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| Business name | ”The name customers see on WhatsApp. If you already have a WhatsApp Business account, use its approved name.” |
| Primary language | ”Default language for templates and automated replies.” |
| Phone (optional) | “The number you plan to connect — existing or new. Verified during connection.” |
There is also a consent checkbox: “I confirm the business has customers’ consent to receive WhatsApp messages.”
The “Customer notifications” section
This section has four checkboxes: Booking confirmation, Reminder 24h before, Reminder 2h before, Booking cancellation.
These checkboxes don’t send anything yet. They are a pre-setting for the moment sending is switched on. Today nothing in the system turns a booking into a WhatsApp message. If you rely on reminders, rely on email.
5. The inbox
Once the integration is installed the page offers an Open inbox button, hinted “View customer conversations in WhatsApp.”
The inbox has two panes: the conversation list on the left, the messages on the right.
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Conversation list | One row per client, with the latest message |
| open badge | The 24-hour free-form reply window is open |
| Select a conversation | The starting screen until you pick one |
| Composer | ”Type a message…” plus a Send button |
| Message statuses | Queued, Sent, Delivered, Read, Failed |
Empty state: “No conversations yet — When a customer messages your WhatsApp number, the conversation appears here.”
The 24-hour rule
This is WhatsApp’s own rule, not Mountify’s. You can reply freely only within 24 hours of the client’s last message. After that the interface shows:
“The 24h window is closed. Free-form messages won’t be delivered — use an approved template.”
In practice: the client has to message first before you can answer.
6. Connecting a number (once it ships)
On the right of the page there is a Connect WhatsApp number card explaining: “Connect through Meta’s secure popup. Use your existing number or a new one — no data lost.”
It lists the three scenarios:
- “No WhatsApp Business yet? Create a new account in minutes — with a number from us or your own.”
- “Have the WhatsApp Business app? Keep it and connect the same number (Coexistence).”
- “Or move the number from the app to the API — name, quality rating and templates carry over.”
Plus: “Already have a WhatsApp Business Account (e.g. from another provider)? You link it directly — no new account is created.” And: “No Meta billing setup needed — charging goes through us.”
Today the Connect number button is disabled, with a Coming soon badge beside it.
7. Removing it
The Remove section says: “Removes WhatsApp and deletes settings and messages (GDPR).”
Pressing Uninstall opens an Uninstall WhatsApp? confirmation:
“This permanently deletes all WhatsApp settings and message history for this workspace (GDPR). This can’t be undone.”
If you only want to pause, use the Integration enabled switch instead.
8. What WhatsApp does NOT do
- It doesn’t send a confirmation when someone books.
- It doesn’t send a reminder before the appointment.
- It doesn’t notify on a cancellation or a reschedule.
- It doesn’t send a review request.
- It doesn’t take bookings automatically — a client can message you, but the booking is still made by you or through the public page.
- It isn’t a payments channel. That’s what the payment cards in the same hub are for.
- It doesn’t replace email. Even once it works, email remains the channel for automatic notifications.
9. What to do in the meantime
| Need | Today’s solution |
|---|---|
| The client should get a confirmation | Steer them to book online — then the email fires automatically |
| The client should get a reminder | Same. Booking online, they pick the lead time themselves |
| Write to one specific client | Clients → the client → Invite by email |
| Reply to messages quickly | Use the ordinary WhatsApp Business app on your phone until the integration lands |
What’s next
- Client notifications — what actually gets sent.
- Confirmations & reminders — the full email inventory.
- The client’s email — how to invite a client by hand.
- Connect Stripe — the other card in the same hub.
