Show reviews on your page
Turn on reviews on the public booking page — social proof in front of the client.
Reviews on the public page come down to one switch: Show reviews on your booking page. It sits in Setup → Reviews, at the very top, above the review list. This article is about that switch — what exactly it turns on and off, and what it leaves untouched.
1. Step by step: turning it on
- In the left rail, pick the board.
- Open the Setup hub.
- Choose the Reviews row.
- At the top is the block Show reviews on your booking page, described as When off, the reviews section is hidden from customers. Individual reviews and ratings are kept.
- Press the switch on the right.
There is no Save button — the change takes effect immediately.
It is on by default. A new board shows reviews without you touching anything. If you have no reviews yet the block simply doesn’t render on the public page — no empty section appears.
2. What switching it off does — the full list
This switch is more powerful than it looks. Off, it stops three different things at once.
| What stops | Detail |
|---|---|
| Display | The Reviews block and the venue’s overall rating disappear from the public page. Reviews aren’t even sent to the public site. |
| Accepting new reviews | A client who opens a review form (from their account or an email) can’t submit it — the request is rejected. |
| The post-visit email | The automatic “How was your visit to …?” email stops going out for new visits. |
| What it does NOT do | Detail |
|---|---|
| Delete reviews | everything stays in Setup → Reviews and remains visible to you |
| Archive reviews | the Active and Archived tabs are untouched |
| Reset ratings | averages are preserved and return instantly when you switch back on |
| Stop your Google reviews | those live on Google and don’t depend on this switch |
| Hide the star next to an individual specialist | a specialist’s own rating comes from their profile record |
Missed emails are not caught up. If you switch reviews off for a week, visits from that week never get the email, even after you switch back on. The condition is checked at send time.
3. What the client sees in each state
| State | The public page |
|---|---|
| On, with active reviews | overall rating (star, average, count) + a Reviews block in the About panel |
| On, with no active reviews | nothing — the block doesn’t render and the client never learns it exists |
| Off | nothing, no matter how many reviews you have |
4. When to switch it off
Since having no reviews already shows nothing, switching off is rarely necessary. Three reasonable cases:
- A dispute or a pile-on. A batch of fake low ratings. Switch off temporarily, clean up with Hide, switch back on.
- A rebrand or new ownership. Old reviews no longer describe the business. A better answer, though, is to archive them one by one so the block stays ready for the new ones.
- A deliberate decision not to show ratings. For example a clinic where public reviews about specific procedures are sensitive.
For everything else, leave it on and work with Hide on individual reviews.
5. The other setting people confuse with this one
Setup → Public site has a Reviews section with a Google review link field. It doesn’t display reviews and is unrelated to this switch.
| Setting | Where | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Show reviews on your booking page | Setup → Reviews | shows or hides the block and the rating |
| Google review link | Setup → Public site, the Reviews section | routes happy clients (4★ and up) to Google after they’ve rated you here |
The public-site section says so itself: View & moderate reviews in the Reviews section.
6. Troubleshooting
I turned it on and there’s nothing on the page. Check the Active tab in Setup → Reviews. If every review is in Archived, there’s nothing to display.
I turned it off but a star next to one specialist is still there. A specialist’s rating comes from their profile record, not from the review block. If you want no ratings at all, archive the underlying reviews.
The change isn’t visible straight away. Public data is cached briefly. Reload with a cleared cache (Ctrl+F5 / Cmd+Shift+R) after a minute.
The switch is greyed out and won’t move. Either the request is still in flight (wait a second), or you don’t have permission to edit the board.
What’s next
- Reviews on your page — exactly what the client sees, and where.
- Customer reviews — the moderation page.
- Collect reviews — the email this switch stops.
- The booking-page editor — the rest of the public-site settings.
