Promo codes & discounts
Discount codes, first-visit discounts and seasonal promos — through the loyalty rules.
“Discount” in Mountify isn’t one thing. There are five different mechanisms, they live in five different places, and they’re applied in a specific order. This article is the map: which mechanism does what, where it is, and when to reach for it. If you already know you need a code, jump straight to Discount codes.
A banner is not a discount. It only announces the offer. The actual arithmetic is done by a loyalty rule or by a service’s own price rule.
1. The five mechanisms at a glance
| Mechanism | Where it’s configured | When it applies | What it’s for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Promo code | Setup → Loyalty | the client types a code at checkout | campaigns, adverts, partnerships |
| First-visit discount | Setup → Loyalty | automatically, on the first booking | winning new clients |
| Buy N, get one | Setup → Loyalty | automatically, after N visits | retaining clients |
| Price by day & time | Catalog → Offerings → the editor | automatically, by day and hour | filling quiet hours |
| Package or membership | Catalog → Packages | when the package is bought | prepayment in exchange for a lower per-visit price |
The first three are loyalty rules and need the Growth plan or higher. The other two are part of the catalog and work on every plan.
2. Loyalty rules — the three templates
The path is Setup → Loyalty → a new rule. The choice starts with a template:

| Template | How the product describes it |
|---|---|
| Promo code | Customer enters a code at checkout — grants a percent or flat discount |
| First-visit discount | Auto-applied on a client’s first booking — an acquisition lever |
| Buy N, get one | 10th visit free — the punch card — after N bookings the next is discounted or free |
Every rule goes through four steps: When (the condition), Reward, Who qualifies (including the Valid from and Valid until dates) and Advanced (stacking, Discount ceiling, total budget).
The detail per template is in Loyalty rule types.
3. “Price by day & time” — the quiet hours
This mechanism is not in the promotions area. It lives in an individual service’s editor, in the Price by day & time section, described as Surcharges or discounts based on the day and time.
- Each rule has Days, optionally Only at a specific time (From / To), and a Percent.
- The percent runs from −100% to +200% — the same mechanism does both surcharges and discounts.
- The first matching rule scales the price — rules don’t add up with each other.
- It only works with a paid price (fixed, by duration, or rental).
Use it for “−15% before noon on weekdays” or “+20% on Saturdays”. No code is needed and the client sees the final price immediately.
Details in Pricing & modifiers.
4. Packages and memberships
A package sells several visits up front at a combined price. The per-visit discount is computed automatically from that total.
It’s the strongest retention tool, and also the biggest commitment for the client. See Packages.
5. The order the price is built in
When a client picks a service, the price is assembled like this:
- The service’s base price.
- A specific specialist’s price, if a different one is set.
- Price by day & time — the first matching rule.
- Add-ons, if the client chose any.
- Loyalty — a promo code or an automatic discount, last.
That’s why a promo-code discount is calculated on the already modified price, not the base one. If the client books a Saturday slot carrying a +20% surcharge, a −10% code applies to the higher figure.
For the detail on combining several rules, see Stacking and budgets.
6. Which mechanism to choose
| Your goal | Choose |
|---|---|
| An Instagram advert with a code | Promo code |
| A partnership with another business (their code) | Promo code, with a separate code per partner |
| Attract new clients | First-visit discount |
| Bring clients back more often | Buy N, get one |
| Fill up Tuesday mornings | Price by day & time with a negative percent |
| Get money up front | Package |
| Just announce something (no arithmetic) | A banner with no linked rule |
7. Three mistakes that cost money
Several rules that stack. If two rules are set as combinable, their discounts add up. Check the stacking setting in each rule’s Advanced step.
A percentage with no ceiling. “−50%” sounds fine until someone books your most expensive treatment. Fill in the Discount ceiling.
A code with no end date. The campaign ends, the code lives on. Fill in Valid until at creation time.
8. How to announce the discount
A discount nobody knows about brings no bookings.
- Build a banner in Setup → Banners and link it to the rule. With a Promo code rule the banner shows a code chip labelled Use code.
- Put the deadline in the banner copy.
- If the campaign is time-boxed, give the banner and the rule identical dates — see Seasonal campaigns.
