Search on the booking page

The Client search switch: where the field sits on phones and computers, what clients find, how “tomorrow 3pm” is read, and how a result leads to a booking.

Your clients can search right on your booking page. They type “haircut”, a specialist’s name, “yoga” or “tomorrow 3pm” — and straight away see the services, the people and the free times. Search works on phones and computers, in the Classic and the Sheet layout. It is turned on and off with one switch — Client search in Setup → Public site → Home layout.

There is nothing extra to fill in. Search reads what is already on your board: your services and their options, specialists, group classes, packages and gift cards, opening hours, address and cancellation terms.

1. The «Client search» switch

  1. Open Setup → Public site.
  2. In Page settings on the right, find the HOME PAGE group and click Home layout.
  3. Under the Classic and Sheet cards sits the Client search switch, with the hint: “A search field on the booking page, on phones and computers: clients find a service, specialist, class or package by name.”

Good to know:

  • It is on by default. If you have never touched the switch, search is already on your page — as long as the page has enough in it (see step 2).
  • One switch for everything. The Desktop / Mobile pills at the top of the section change the layout and the preview, not search: search goes on or off at once — for phones and computers, for Classic and Sheet.
  • It saves immediately, like everything in the editor. There is no Save button.

On a page with three services, search only gets in the way — the whole list is quicker to read. So the field appears once the page has at least 6 items:

CountsDoesn’t count
Every service that isn’t archived. Each option of a Service with options counts on its ownArchived services
Group classes with at least one upcoming session on the scheduleA group class with nothing scheduled
Specialists that clients see on the pageArchived ones and those hidden from the public page
Active packages and gift cardsArchived packages
—Opening hours, address and cancellation terms — every board has them

While you have fewer items, the switch can stay on. A note appears under it, for example: “Search appears once the page has at least 6 items — services, specialists, packages. Now: 4.” Once you add the sixth item, the field shows up by itself — no need to come back here.

3. Where clients find it

On a phoneOn a computer
ClassicA Search services, team, classes field on the home screen — under the Build your booking heading, above the Service, Specialist and Date & time rows. Without group classes the field reads Search services and team.A magnifier icon in the top bar of the home page. A click or the / key opens it into a Search services, team, classes field, with the results panel underneath.
SheetThe same field — right above the booking card. The card’s heading becomes or build it step by step, with the usual rows under it.A Search pill in the band at the top, right after the pill with your logo and name. The / key opens search too. On a narrower screen the pill shrinks to an icon.

One more way in exists on phones only: the Choose a service card (the service step) has a magnifier in its top-right corner. It opens search straight in Services.

On a phone, search opens full-screen; the back arrow or the phone’s Back button closes it and the client is back where they started. On a computer, the panel closes with Esc, with ✕ or with a click outside it.

Embedded widget. If your page is embedded in your own website and, on a computer, sits in a narrow box, there is no search there — the client goes step by step, as before.

4. What clients can search for

The client typesWhat they findWhat search matches on
A service: “manicure”, “mani”Services and their optionsThe name; also the group, the Search tags, the description, the What’s included lines and the option names. A service package is found by the services inside it too
A specialist: “Maria”, “stylist”SpecialistsThe name, role, tags, specialties and languages
A class: “yoga”Group classes — with the day, time and free spots of the next sessionThe name, group, tags and description
A package: “gift”Packages and gift cardsThe name, kind, description and the services the package covers
A question: “opening hours”, “parking”, “cancel”Answers: today’s hours with an All hours button; your address with a Directions button; “Free cancellation up to 24 h before”Your opening hours, the address of your main location and your free-cancellation window

Search is forgiving:

  • Latin instead of Cyrillic. On a Bulgarian page, “manikyur” finds “Маникюр” and “utre” reads as “утре” (tomorrow).
  • Typos. When a word gets corrected, the results show Showing … and You typed “…”, and the Search as typed button brings back exactly what was typed.
  • Half-typed words. Results appear while the client is still typing; on a phone, completions show under the field too.

Answers only show what the board knows. For “parking” the client sees your address with Directions — not made-up parking text.

Before typing anything, a client on a phone sees Recent searches (up to 6, kept on their own device), What’s on offer — tiles for your groups, specialists, classes and packages — and People also look for: your most booked services. On a computer the same lives under Recent searches, Browse and Clients often look for. The service tiles follow the grouping you picked in the catalog — see Groups & order.

Want a service to be found by another word too? Add the word to Search tags in the service editor — for example “gel” on “Long-lasting manicure”. For a specialist, add it to their tags or specialties.

5. Dates and times

Search understands when the client wants to come — on its own or together with a service:

The client typesSearch understands
“haircut tomorrow”Haircut, tomorrow — the top result shows tomorrow’s times
“tomorrow 3pm”, “tomorrow at 15”, “tomorrow 15:00”Tomorrow, around 15:00 (up to two hours either side)
“friday evening”The next Friday, after 17:00
“after 5pm”, “before 12”Today after 17:00, or until 12:00
“October 5”, “5.10”5 October (numbers are day first); if the date has passed — next year
just “15”Today at 15:00; if that time has already passed today — tomorrow
just “3”15:00 — the numbers 1 to 7 read as afternoon
“manicure 15”Text: a number next to a service name stays part of the name

Parts of the day: morning is 7–12, noon 12–14, afternoon 12–17, evening 17 to midnight. Weekdays can be short (“fri”, “sat”). Bulgarian always works — in Cyrillic or Latin (“utre 15”, “petuk”) — alongside the language the page is shown in. All dates and times are read in your board’s time zone, not the client’s phone’s.

What the client sees next:

  • A chip with what was understood, for example Tomorrow · around 15:00, with ✕ — it removes the date and time and keeps only the text. If the time has already passed today, the chip says today has passed and search looks at tomorrow.
  • Only a date or time (“tomorrow at 3pm”) — a Free tomorrow around 15:00 section: up to 4 of your most booked one-to-one services, with up to 3 free times each, closest to the time asked for.
  • A service and a date (“haircut tomorrow”) — on a phone, the top result shows that day’s times; on a computer the same is in the Free … section.
  • Nothing free — it says No free times …, with a See the full calendar button that takes the client to the time picker for that day.

A word that is a name on your page stays a name. If something on your page is called like a day or a part of the day, search reads it as text, not as a date.

6. From a result to a booking

Every result does one thing — the same thing the page itself would do:

ResultWhat a tap does
ServiceStarts the booking — just like picking it in Choose a service: the next step is the specialist, the time or whatever is still missing
A free time (in the top result or in Free …)The service, the day and the time are picked at once; the client carries on from the first empty step — often straight to checkout
An option of a service with optionsThe service is picked with that option
SpecialistOn a phone: booking with that specialist. On a computer: their card opens, with a button to book
Group classThe next session opens; if it isn’t known — the class schedule
Package or gift cardThe package card opens
AnswerAll hours opens the information about you; Directions opens the map in a new tab

On a phone, the Top result card sits on top — the best-matching service, who does it, the price and up to 4 free times today (the first marked soonest). With nothing free today, the card has no times. It only shows times for a plain one-to-one service — for a service package, a service with options or with a composition, a day pass, a rental and a course, the client first goes through the matching steps.

On a computer there is no separate card: services are rows with the names of the specialists who do them, and specialists show their next free time, for example Free today 15:00. Clients move with the arrow keys, Enter opens, Esc closes. Courses don’t appear in search on a computer; on a phone they do.

The chips above the results narrow the search. On a phone they are All, Services, Specialists, Classes and Packages; on a computer All, Services, Team, Classes, Packages and Info. Only the ones your page has something for show up. Under All each kind shows a few results, and All 8 (on a computer View all) opens the whole kind. Opened on their own, specialists on a phone line up in a two-column grid. If the chosen chip has nothing but another one does, the client sees All, so they don’t miss the answer.

If nothing matches, the client sees Nothing for “…” and buttons to message you on Viber, WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook — on a phone under Ask the salon, on a computer under Message the salon. The number and profiles come from the board’s phone and the Links row; in Viber and WhatsApp the client’s words are already in the message. On a phone, three popular services follow under Popular here instead.

On a sports board, phone search calls specialists Coaches — in the chip, the tile and the results.

7. The preview in the editor

The preview in Public site draws search where it sits on the live page: in Mobile, the field on the home screen; in Desktop, the magnifier in the top bar with Classic or the Search pill with Sheet. It only shows it when the switch is on and there are at least 6 items.

The preview only shows where search sits. To try it, press Open page and search yourself — for example one of your services plus “tomorrow”.

8. «Client search» and «Search bar» are not the same thing

Search bar is a Hero option for the computer with Classic (the default one): “Service, specialist and date in one bar”. In it the client picks from drop-down fields rather than typing free text.

The two don’t depend on each other:

  • the Client search switch doesn’t remove or change the Search bar;
  • with the Search bar and search switched on, a client on a computer has both: the bar with its fields on the home screen and the magnifier in the top bar;
  • if you pick another hero, search stays in the top bar.

More on heroes: The booking-page editor, step 7.
