Does adding a teammate cost extra?
Users are free — what you pay for is bookable spots. How to check your cap and how to add a spot.
Short answer: no. Mountify does not charge per user. You can invite three people or thirteen and your subscription doesn’t move by a single cent. What you do pay for is something else — bookable spots — and that’s exactly where the confusion comes from, because in a salon the person and the “bookable spot” are often the same human. This article untangles the two.
The rule in one sentence: you pay for the active resources a customer can book, not for the accounts that sign in to the admin.
1. Users are free and unlimited
- There is no per-user price.
- There is no cap on the number of members.
- There is no price difference between Owner, Admin, Member, Viewer and a custom role.
- Deactivating or removing a person does not lower your bill, because it never raised it.
Your plan counts exactly two numbers — and “users” isn’t either of them:
| Plan limit | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Bookable spots | The active resources a customer can book |
| Locations | Your branches (sites) |
You see both under Workspace settings → Subscription & billing, in the Your limits panel, on the Bookable spots and Locations rows.
2. What you actually pay for: a “bookable spot”
One spot = one active resource that can fulfil at least one active service. A resource can be a stylist, a chair, a room, a court or a machine.
How it’s counted:
- across the whole workspace — not per board. Two boards in one workspace share one cap;
- only active resources. An inactive or archived resource takes no spot;
- by stock count, if the resource is equipment with a quantity — “skates, stock 4” is 4 spots;
- each resource is counted once, even if it takes part in ten services.
Base limits per plan:
| Plan | Bookable spots | Locations |
|---|---|---|
| Start | 1 | 1 |
| Growth | 5 | 1 |
| Pro | 15 | 3 |
| Custom | unlimited | unlimited |
During the 14-day trial you work with Pro-level capability.
3. A login ≠ a bookable resource
| The person in the salon | Needs a login | Needs a bookable spot |
|---|---|---|
| A manager who only organises | yes | no |
| Reception | yes | no |
| A stylist who takes clients and runs their calendar | yes | yes |
| A stylist who doesn’t use a computer | no | yes |
| An accountant | yes | no |
| A chair, a room, a machine | no | yes |
The most expensive mistake: creating a resource for somebody who only administers. A resource takes a spot even if nobody ever books it — it only has to be active and reachable by some service. If your receptionist is eating a spot from your plan, deactivate her resource — her login stays.
The full distinction is in Staff vs. resource.
4. Check how many you have left
Two ways:
From the resources:
- Open Catalog → Team & resources.
- Pick a resource kind (e.g. “Stylists”).
- At the top there’s a “4 / 15 spots” chip. Hover it: “4 of 15 bookable spots are active on your plan.” On an unlimited plan it reads “Active bookable spots. Your plan has no limit.”
From the subscription:
- Click the business monogram tile → Billing.
- The Your limits panel shows Bookable spots. With add-ons it reads like “15 + 3 extra”.
5. When you hit the cap
Try to activate one more resource and:
- the Active · available for booking switch won’t move;
- the resources page reads “You’ve reached your plan’s bookable-spots limit. Deactivate another resource or upgrade your plan to activate this one.”;
- saving a new resource shows “Bookable-spots limit reached” — “The resource was created inactive because your plan is at its bookable-spots limit. Upgrade your plan to activate it.”
The resource is created — it just stays inactive and invisible to customers until you free a spot.
6. How to add a bookable spot
You don’t have to jump a whole tier. There’s an add-on.
- Monogram tile → Billing (or Workspace settings → Subscription & billing).
- Scroll to the Add-ons block — “Extras on top of your plan — add them independently of your tier.”
- Find the Extra bookable spot card — “Each unit raises your bookable-spots limit by one.” The price is €7 per spot / mo, excluding VAT.
- Use the stepper (+ / −) to pick how many spots you need. The total sums up next to it as “Total …/mo”, and under the card it says “N bookable spots in total with this add-on” — that’s your new cap.
- Click Save.
- A confirmation appears: “Update your subscription?”, explaining that the change applies to your current subscription right away and a prorated amount is charged now; the exact figure is on your Stripe receipt.
- Confirm with Confirm change.
A few things worth knowing:
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| The add-on is available on any plan | Under the card it reads “On any plan” |
| Prices exclude VAT | Stripe adds it at checkout |
| On an annual cycle | The add-on follows the cycle — the yearly price is ten times the monthly one |
| Reducing or removing | The unused part becomes account credit against future invoices; it is not refunded to your card |
| If you don’t have a paid subscription yet | Under the card it reads “Set up a paid subscription in Stripe to add extras.” Pick a plan first |
| Permission needed | Manage workspace settings. Without it you see “Read-only — you can’t manage the subscription. Contact an Owner or Admin.” |
If you also need more branches, the add-on is Extra location (€9 per site / mo). Details in Add spots & locations.
7. When changing plan makes more sense
The add-on is convenient for one or two spots. If you need many, do the maths:
- Growth gives 5 spots; Pro gives 15 and 3 locations.
- Pro also brings features the add-on doesn’t — multi-location, CRM, waitlist, group classes.
- If you’re on Start with 1 spot and need 5, compare “Start + 4 add-ons” against Growth.
Prices and the comparison are in Plans & billing.
Common questions
If I invite five people, will my bill go up? No. Not by a cent.
And if those five are stylists customers can book? Then you need five bookable spots — but because of the resources, not the logins. Even if you give none of them a login, the five spots are still required.
Two stylists share one chair. One spot or two? Two — if both are separate active resources. If you keep them as a single resource it’s one spot, but then customers can’t choose between them.
If I deactivate someone under “Members”, does the cap drop? No. The cap moves only with resources. Deactivate the resource if you want to free a spot.
How do I free a spot without deleting the resource? Open the resource → the Visibility section → switch off Active · available for booking. The resource keeps all its history but stops counting.
Is there a charge per booking or per client? No. The subscription is fixed by your plan plus add-ons. There is no commission on bookings, and Mountify takes no cut of your customers’ payments.
The subscription is in euros but my till is in leva. Is that a problem? No. The Mountify subscription is in euros and is a separate account from your venue’s till, which runs in the board’s currency. See Your venue’s currency.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The chip shows more spots than I have people | Equipment counts by stock; one resource with stock 4 is 4 spots | Check the Stock field on your resources |
| A new stylist doesn’t show to customers | They were created inactive because of the cap | Free a spot or buy an add-on |
| I can’t click Save on the add-on card | You haven’t changed the quantity, or your role lacks Manage workspace settings | Change the quantity; if it says “Read-only”, ask the owner |
| The add-on card says “Set up a paid subscription in Stripe…” | You’re still on trial or have no paid subscription | Pick a plan, then add the add-on |
| I reduced the add-on and expected money back on my card | The unused part becomes credit against future invoices | On cancellation, unused credit can be refunded on request |
| I bought a spot but the chip still shows the old cap | The subscription update takes a moment | Reload the resources page |
