Service with options
One service with zones or variants: the client picks one or more options, time and price add up, and one specialist must be able to do every chosen option.
Some treatments are sold in parts: hair removal by zone, laser by zone, massage of single body areas, a keratin treatment priced by hair length. Create a separate service for every zone and your page fills up with near-identical rows. A Service with options fixes that: one card, for example “Hair removal”, with options inside — “Legs”, “Bikini”, “Underarms”. The client ticks one or more, and the visit’s time and price are the sum of what they picked. You create it from Catalog → Offerings → + Service with the Service with options card.
An option is not a separate service. It never shows on its own in the services list and can’t be booked by itself — it’s always picked inside its service. The type is available on every plan.
1. When to choose a service with options
| If… | Choose | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The client picks which part of the treatment they want — one zone or several — and each has its own price and time | Service with options | One card in the list, a “from …” price, the total adds itself up. Each option has its own specialists, description and photos |
| There’s a complete main service, and the client may add something small to it — “Hot stones” for another €10 and 15 minutes | An Appointment with the Extras section | The main service has its own price and time; extras only add to it and can be skipped |
| The service also takes up a room, a device or a person of another kind, e.g. an assistant | An Appointment with the Also needed block | That isn’t the client’s choice, it’s a resource the booking occupies. See Add-ons and extra resources |
| Two specialists of the same kind do the treatment at once — four hands | An Appointment with the How many specialists work together? row | The client picks both, or “Whoever is free”, and booking only offers times when both are free. See section 9 of Client picks a resource |
| The treatments are genuinely different and clients look for them separately — or you want them payable with a credits pack or a subscription | Separate services | Each has its own card; the client can still combine them into one multi-service visit |
Rule of thumb: if there’s no service without a choice (“Hair removal” on its own doesn’t say what will be done), those are options. If the service is complete without the additions, those are extras.
2. Create the service step by step
- Open Catalog → Offerings and click + Service.
- In What are you selling? pick the Service with options card — “One service with several options — zones or variants. The customer picks one or more; time and price add up.”
- In Name & description, type the umbrella name — “Hair removal”, “Laser hair removal”, “Keratin treatment”. This is also where you pick the group the service sits under in the list (Listed under).
- In the What does the customer choose from? section there is already one empty option — “Unnamed option”. Click it to set it up (see section 3).
- Add the rest with Add option — or with Fill from a service if you already sell that treatment as a separate service.
- Order the options with the arrows (Move up / Move down). That’s the order the client sees them in and the order they run in during the visit. There’s no dragging.
- In the Price section choose what the client pays online: When booking online the customer pays — nothing, a deposit or the full price. A deposit and the full price can only be switched on with online payments connected.
- Click Create offering.
Each row in the list shows the option’s number, name and badge, and under them something like “30 min · €30.00 · Maria, Iva” (duration, price and who performs it). Below the list sits a summary line, for example “3 options · from 10 min · from €12.00”. If an option isn’t fully set up, its row gets an amber border and the reason is written under it.
What the editor of a service with options does not have: the sections for time, for performers and Extras. All of that is set in each option separately. The service itself has no price to type in: in Price, the Price row shows “from” the cheapest option and explains “The customer pays the sum of the chosen options.” Below the sections you still get the + buttons for Price by day & time, Booking page, Badge, Questions at booking and (if you have at least two branches) Locations — these apply to the whole service.
The type can’t be changed after creation. A regular service can’t become a service with options, or the other way round. If you’ve been selling “Hair removal — legs” and “Hair removal — bikini” as separate services, create a new service with options and use Fill from a service for each option. The old services stay as they are — delete them once the new one is live, so they don’t show twice.
3. Set up each option
Click the option’s row or the pencil next to it (Set up). A panel opens on the right. Its title is the option’s name (until it has one — New option or “Unnamed option”), with this note under it: “Set up like a regular 1:1 appointment. “Done” adds it to the service, “Save” saves the service.”
| Block | What you set |
|---|---|
| What is the option called? | Name (required, up to 120 characters) and Description. The first line of the description shows under the option’s name while booking; the whole of it shows in the option’s details |
| How long and how much? | The option takes — from 5 minutes to 24 hours; Price — a fixed amount, 0 or more. “Each chosen option adds its time and price to the visit.” |
| Who performs it & what’s needed | A booking requires — the kind, e.g. your stylists; Who exactly takes the booking? — whoever is free or the customer picks. With the latter, the Resources customers can pick list appears with a “2 / 3” counter. Under Also needed you add a room or a device the option takes up |
| Badge on the card | A sticker such as “Hit” — “The badge shows next to the option in the customer’s list.” |
| Booking page | Cover image, More photos, What’s included, What to know beforehand, Search tags and the fields for your trade — “Photos and details of the option — the customer opens them from “i”.” |
A new option starts at 30 minutes and a price of 0. A booking requires is set to your main kind of specialist, and Who exactly takes the booking? to the customer picks, with all your current specialists ticked.
At the bottom of the panel are Cancel and Done. Done only puts the option into the list — the service is saved only with Create offering (or Save changes when editing). Leave the page before that and the option won’t be saved.
More about options:
- Fill from a service copies the name, description, duration, price, performers, room, badge and details from an existing appointment. The list offers regular appointments only — not group classes, rentals, packages, day passes or another service with options. The service you copy from is left untouched.
- Also needed works more simply in an option than in a regular service: the room or device is always booked together with the option, one of each and with no surcharge.
- Fill in the Cancellation policy on the service itself, not in the option: text typed into the option’s panel isn’t saved.
- Deleting. The bin next to a saved option asks “Delete “Legs”?” — “The option disappears from the service. Bookings already made with it keep it.” A new option that hasn’t been saved yet disappears without asking.
- A service has 1 to 50 options. At 50 the Add option button stops working and the note “You’ve reached the maximum of 50 options.” appears.
4. Who can perform the visit
The hint in the option’s panel puts it most briefly: “One specialist does the whole visit — the customer sees only those who can do every chosen option.”
- One specialist for the whole visit. The visit is a single continuous block: the chosen options sit in it in the order you set, and one person does all of them.
- They must be able to do every chosen option. Who “can do” an option is decided by that option’s Who exactly takes the booking? row:
- with the customer picks — only the people ticked in Resources customers can pick. This list overrides specializations;
- with whoever is free — anyone of that kind, unless you’ve narrowed their Specializations. In that case the service with options itself must be ticked there: options don’t appear in that list one by one, and ticking the service covers all of its options. See Which services a resource can perform.
- One kind of specialist. All options that need a person must need the same kind. Otherwise saving stops with “All options must be performed by the same kind of specialist — the visit has one performer.”
- One room for the whole visit. If at least one of the chosen options needs a room or a device from Also needed, it’s occupied for the entire visit, not only during that option.
Example: Maria does “Legs” and “Bikini”, Iva does “Legs” and “Underarms”.
| The client picks | Who can take it |
|---|---|
| Legs | Maria and Iva |
| Legs + Bikini | Maria only |
| Legs + Underarms | Iva only |
| Bikini + Underarms | nobody — no free times |
A new specialist doesn’t join the options on their own. The list under the customer picks is an exact list: anyone who joins after you set up the option isn’t added automatically. Open the option and tick them too — or use whoever is free.
5. How price and time are shown
Take three options: “Legs” — 30 min, €30; “Bikini” — 15 min, €20; “Underarms” — 10 min, €12.
| Where | What the client sees |
|---|---|
| The services list and the service’s card | “from 10 min” and “from €12.00” — the shortest and the cheapest option. If all options share the same time or price, there’s no “from” |
| The options step | Each row with its own time and price — “30 min · €30.00”, no “+” |
| “Legs” and “Bikini” picked | The visit takes 45 minutes and costs €50 |
| The same on a Saturday with a Price by day & time rule of +20 % | €60 — the service’s rule applies to the whole sum |
| The receipt | Each chosen option is its own line with its own price |
- The deposit is set for the whole service. A percentage deposit is calculated from the price of the whole visit, i.e. from the sum of the chosen options. See Deposits & prepayment.
- Changes to an option’s price or time apply to new bookings. Bookings already made keep the name, price and time of the options they were created with.
- If every option costs 0, saving asks Make this service free? — confirm with Yes, it’s free or go back with Back to price.
6. What the client sees on the booking page
On a phone
- The services list shows one “Hair removal” card with “from 10 min · from €12.00”.
- Once they pick it, the client sees the Choose options step — “One or more — the visit’s time and price add up”. Each row has a checkbox, the name, the badge, the first line of the description, the time and price, and an i button.
- Until at least one option is ticked, the bottom button reads Choose an option and doesn’t move on. After that it becomes Continue · €50.00 · 45 min.
- Next come the choice of specialist — only those who can do all the chosen options are listed — and Date & time. Free times are searched for the full length of the visit.
- The Options row shows the choice, e.g. “Legs · Bikini”. Until they confirm, the client can go back and change the options. If the time they’d already picked can’t fit the new visit, the time is released and the client is sent back to the time step with a note such as: “With the options you picked the visit takes 55 min and no longer fits at 10:30. Pick another time.”
Not to be confused with Extras. On the English booking page, a regular service’s Extras step is titled “Service options” and is optional. A service with options always asks the client to Choose options and needs at least one.
Option details (“i”)
The i button opens the option as a page of its own: at the top “Option · Hair removal” and the duration, then the name, badge, description, price, photos and the Includes, What you should know, Details and Performed by blocks. The bottom button reads Add this option · €30.00, or Remove this option for an option already picked (which also carries a Selected tag). It changes the choice and takes the client back to the options step. There’s no booking button here, because an option isn’t booked on its own.
The options also appear in the service’s own details, in an Options block with the time and price of each. If the client opens an option from there and taps Add this option, the service and the option are picked in one go.
On a computer
In both the Classic and Sheet layouts the step is the same: the options are a ticked list, the i button opens the details in a side panel with the same Add this option / Remove this option buttons, and moving on waits for at least one option.
If your page has search, every option also shows up in it as a separate result with the name of its service. Picking it selects the service with that option already ticked.
What a service with options doesn’t do on the page
- It isn’t added to a multi-service visit. At checkout, where + Add another service would be, the client reads “A service with options is a whole visit — other services can’t be added to it. Book another service separately.”
- It isn’t used for the next-free-time strips on the home screen — its time depends on which options the client picks. See Classic or Sheet: your home layout.
7. Booking from the CRM
A service with options can be booked from all the usual places: the New booking window, the new-booking panel in Schedule and the client card in Clients. The rules are the same everywhere:
- In the services list it appears with “from” — e.g. “Hair removal · from 10 min”.
- As soon as you pick it, an Options block appears with checkboxes and the time and price of each. In New booking the hint reads “Pick at least one option — the time and the specialist depend on them.”
- Without at least one option the booking won’t go through: “Pick at least one option.”
- The specialist list shows only those who can do every ticked option.
In the Schedule panel you’ll also see:
- the duration field reads “sum of the chosen options”;
- if nobody can do the ticked options, the note under the specialist field reads “Nobody can perform all of the chosen options”;
- if the field is already filled with a specialist who doesn’t do one of the options (for example, you opened the panel from their column), saving stops and the field shows “Maria doesn’t perform all of the chosen options. Pick from the list or change the options.”;
- if you’d already added more services to the visit, the panel warns “A service with options can’t be part of a multi-service visit — the added services won’t be booked.”
In the booking’s details, the Options block lists the chosen options with their price and minutes. In the services list, on the service’s page and on the Map, it’s marked With options. Manual booking in general is covered in Add a manual booking.
A booking’s options can’t be changed once it’s made — neither by the client nor from the CRM. If the client wants a different combination, cancel the booking and make a new one. Moving it to another time works: the booking keeps its options and duration.
8. Limits
- One client per visit. Guests can’t be added to a service with options.
- An option has one price. There’s no per-specialist price, no price by duration, no Extras and no What it uses in an option.
- Paying with a package. Credits and Subscription don’t pay for a service with options — even when they cover all services — and a Bundle can’t include it. A Gift card does pay, because it covers the actual amount. See Gift cards.
- Discounts and loyalty rules target the whole service, not a single option.
- Branches are set for the whole service (Locations), not per option.
- A deleted option in a future booking. If you delete an option that’s already in a future booking, the client may not be able to move that booking themselves from their link. Move it from the CRM — that works there.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The client picks two options and sees no free times | No specialist can do both — or the total duration doesn’t fit in the working day | Check Who performs it & what’s needed on both options and the specialists’ Specializations; see Find out why a service shows no free times |
| In the CRM: “Nobody can perform all of the chosen options” | Same thing: the people allowed for the ticked options don’t overlap | Untick an option, or add the specialist to the option’s list |
| Saving stops with “All options must be performed by the same kind of specialist…” | The options point at different kinds of people under A booking requires | Pick the same kind in every option |
| An option row has an amber border, and on saving the Let’s fix a few things before saving panel points at Options | An option with no name (“Every option needs a name.”), no performer (“Choose who performs each option.”), or the customer picks with nobody ticked | Open the option — the reason is written under its row and at the bottom of the panel |
| A new specialist doesn’t show up for an option | The option uses the customer picks with an exact list | Open the option and tick them in Resources customers can pick |
| The post-save check is green, but one option never has free times | The service counts as bookable as soon as at least one option has free times | Check that option’s performers and Also needed |
| I can’t turn an old service into a service with options | The type locks after creation | New service with options + Fill from a service, then delete the old ones |
| The client can’t pay with credits or a subscription | A service with options is paid with money or a Gift card only | Take payment at the venue, or sell a gift card |
| I can’t change the options of a booking that’s already made | Not supported | Cancel it and book again with the new options |
